  1. I was with my father when he died at age 93 in a nursing home. I was holding his hand and he said to me "I want to go home" and I knew which home he meant. In that moment, his face turned "gold" and it only lasted a few seconds. I had heard about the death mask from nurses and I knew what they meant after having seen it. The colour to his face returned and he was gone. It was a very peaceful death and I am forever greatful that I was there with him. I loved him very, very much and his last gift to me was to allow me to be there at the end of his life.
