This is NOT a functional way to grieve – she needed to spend some money on intensive psychotherapy and then consciously, responsibly, gradually spend the money. Her first priorities should have been her three children, not her totally selfish desire for ways to enhance her appearance. She deserved the condemnation, and copping out with claiming she wasn't responsible for her actions is no different than someone with a drug, alcohol, or gambling addiction using that to justify their irresponsible behavior during their peak addiction. I was one of those; I know how much strength, courage, and support it takes to get help to escape that terrible cycle of abusive behavior; and start making up for it by going beyond just getting back to "normal living." Addicts like her need to devote the rest of their lives to helping others, starting with family. It's actually more for their own peace of mind, self-esteem, and re-connection to loved ones and the rest of the world, than for those they help. Quit enabling addicts; "tough love" them into getting help, turning their lives around, and start giving back!
The high u get from shopping and purchasing that /one/ item is so brief yet so intense. It’s a high, it’s an addiction and unless you’ve felt it and had to learn to OVERCOME it please show compassion❤
So? That's how she dealt with depression so what?
Why is a billionaire literally criticizing a widow on how she spends money that is hers?
I don't care if this woman spent this money on free dirt. NOBODY, I mean ABSOLUTELY NOBODY will ever have the right to judge her.
It’s one of my personal pet peeves when people give money or a donation and then get mad about how it is spent. When a person in need asks me for a dollar, I give it no questions asked. It’s none of my business once I hand over that money because it no longer belongs to me.
It was her money and her kids! No one else… Oprah is so self righteous and judgmental! People cope differently and thats how she did it
What a terrible interview
People have different ways of coping with a loss. I feel like they don’t understand what this lady has gone through like they are still identifying victims in 2021 and for her to constantly be reminded on tv on how her husband died. She needs help to heal not to be bashed on national tv
GOOD FOR HER…SPEND SPEND SPEND!
She's greedy and looking for attention, just like Oprah. Harpo is Oprah backwards and her Own network is Nwo backwards.
Her husband was murdered. If shopping makes her happy then leave her alone.
It’s no one’s business how she spends her money. She’s obviously looking for happiness again. Oprah needs to retire.
It was a relief fund given for relief. If going shopping gives her relief then where is the problem?
It's unbelievable how a person like Oprah, who herself lives the outrageous life of a millionaire, spending enough, on a regular basis, to feed several families of hard working people, who can't even afford to buy a house, goes ahead and confronts a highly traumatized woman for her way to compensate the grief of losing a husband in such a gruesome way within hours, having to deal with the grief of her three children who lost their dad and raise them by herself. Honestly for me this is disgusting and distasteful.
And let's be honest. There haven't worked too many people in the two towers that haven't been rich already. It was bankers, brokers, lawyers. Then the fonds in itself should have been split differently, so that people who would struggle financially after the loss of their partners get more than people who wouldn't. But telling a grieving wife off because she didn't spend the money in a "meaningful way" is just disgusting.
It's nobody's business!! What the hell, leave her Alone
People use section 8 money on the same stuff. What's.the point?
She’s supporting economy
I don’t know how doctors deal with death everyday
Oprah and Dr. Robin are both acting judgemental and needed to back off. That lady hurt no one. People grieve differently. Shopping enabled this woman cope with her grief.
Nobody’s business what she does. Period.
Nobody has the right (not even billionaire Oprah) to tell her how to grieve. If she didn't spend the donations it's nobody's business but also maybe she shouldn't have gone on national t.v. or at least made it clear where the money came from. And shrink, she missed what her daughter said because Oprah was talking & telling her what she assumes she needs to do.
”It doesn’t have to be Vera Wang”, it can be whatever the heck she feel that she WANTS it to be! People definitely deal with grief in different ways, and I really didn’t care for the judgement with which the psychologist spoke to this woman. She is not HER personal therapist, so she doesn’t know the full spectrum of what’s behind her reaction to this tragedy. She only what she has learned in the media, and what she chose to tell her during the course of this show.
Oprah was extremely insensitive and disgusting here. Oprah’s tone was towards this woman was deplorable. This woman entire world was destroyed and how dare Oprah sit here in judgement. I’m so surprised no one called Oprah out on her bs!!!
I can't imagine how in love amd happy she was with him. Part of me has always been scared to be that in love with someone, mainly because they might leave me for someone else or die.
Way too open people’s eyes, Oprah. This woman needs help. All the money will go…if it’s not already. Too many nice people in this thread. Get help. You kids needs you. And, not for the money you will most likely need when the trust opens.
Retail therapy is a real thing. What else is she supposed to spend it on? Why did ppl donate to her in the first place? To help make her feel just a bit better, and if shopping is what makes her feel better, than thats HER business.
I know ppl just like her, and they actually spend more on other ppl than themselves.
Having Oprah judging someone about spending too much money is an interesting take.
I feel bad for this lady…..when donations came in for survivors and their families……did it come with an instruction manual? Or a do this and not that? No……she can do what she pleases. Just my thought.
Doesn't matter how she spent the money. I hope she got help. But I won't judge her for how she spent the money. People grieve different.
I don’t understand why this is anyone’s concern or business?
Can you imagine all the ways the family of the victims coped with the loss of their loved ones after the greatest tragedy in the history of America? I would bet so many of them started drinking, using drugs, and many other self-destructive ways to deal with the pain. I’m glad it’s only a shopping addiction. Any single one of us would be susceptible to self-destructive behavior after something like this. Anyone judging this woman should just shut the hell up.
she should never have gotten any money when others got nothing.
she needed to go to therapy, poor thing
Her renovating the whole house told me all I needed to know…. That woman was truly suffering, and Oprah and the psychologist came off aa so judgmental.
