Descriptions:

NDEs give strong evidence that the nonmaterial mind is a separate entity that interfaces with the brain in regular consciousness—a perspective that requires a radical change in neuroscience. Previously scientific revolutions like the heliocentric see of the heavens took more than a century to be acknowledged while far more modern revolutions like the framework of the atom took a lot less than 20 decades. The change was the capability to deliver convincing evidence and a model of the new paradigm to other scientists. We current the NDE evidence for the independent mind entity and a model of, and proof for, mind-mind interaction. There is excellent NDE evidence that the nonmaterial mind interacts with bodily make a difference together with neural mechanisms and there is great neurological proof from neural buildings and anesthesiology that suggests an interface for the mind to perform with the brain. What is wanted now is a research program to validate this design of mind-brain interaction.

ABOUT IANDS
IANDS is a membership nonprofit 501(c)(3) group with a mission to advance world wide knowing of NDEs and linked experiences by means of research, education and learning, and guidance. We envision a potential in which all folks embrace near-death and connected experiences as a source of meaning and inspiration for a much better world. We consider NDEs can rework an individual’s lifestyle, impact the sciences, and embolden culture. Currently, IANDS engages in far additional than research and has users from all over the planet. We invite you to take into consideration starting to be a member of IANDS. To master additional about near-death experiences, go to iands.org.

What is an NDE?
A near-death experience (NDE) is typically a profound, lifetime shifting, intensely emotional experience that ordinarily occurs during a clinical disaster and has frequent properties and aftereffects. It is not a dream, hallucination, or psychological illness (Greyson, 1983). There are no predictive variables to determine who will have an NDE. They take place to people of all ages, religions, socio-financial teams, cultures, academic backgrounds, and perception systems. They manifest less than a selection of situations these as accidents, near-drownings, ailments, combat, surgical techniques, and childbirth. Following an NDE, experiencers (NDErs) usually show some common aftereffects. Research has recognized a set of widespread NDE properties and extensive-term aftereffects. Theories made use of to demonstrate near-death experiences in purely physical phrases have been demonstrated insufficient by NDE scientists and some others.

  1. The internet is full of unsubstantiated anecdotal stories by highly religious individuals claiming all sorts of fantastic stories about NDEs.

In brain function local brain regions go offline one after another during brain trauma and shut down. The brain, whose substrate is whichever neurons remain intact, then does what we know the brain always does, it tells a story shaped by a person’s experience, memory and cultural expectations. [as in dreams] There is no mystery here.

  2. I think certain phenomena described here favour the notion of the mind always have a certain embodiment, rather than being purely immaterial; the notion of a subtle body seems helpful to me as a thrird factor, suggesting a scheme rather different from this kind of dualism (which I actually used to favour on philosophical grounds until I studied NDEs and realted phenomena more closely).

  3. Ultimately "the other side" is by definition not even a phenomena. there is nothing to observe; it happens on the other side. The other side is real, but when you come back to your body it is only an experience. Having knowledge of the future, past or other locations with not establish NDE's as a phenomena.

Cultivation of the mind and body may in the future perform in tandem with some scientific summary of some sort, but NDE'rs with speedy recoveries or enhanced awareness/sensitivities also won't establish the NDE as a phenomena.

NDE conversations tend to frame spirtual reality in relation to our human lives, but may at other times frame our human lives within a spirtual perspective instead. None of this subjective interest is valid without competent practitioners who cultivate the mind and body living closer a spirtual perspective than a human perspective. This requires a very genuinely interested and developed soul.

  4. I have been listening to Swami Sarvapriyananda's conversations with David Chalmers and others about the relationship of consciousness-mind-brain, and there are some amazing correspondences between those talks and this wonderful presentation. He makes a distinction between mind and consciousness that could be interesting to consider here. I think he might also be delighted to see the reference to the "mirror" in this talk. Congratulations to the Mays for their pioneering work.

  5. What's next? This has been studied, observed and discussed, in relation to NDE's for over 20 years now. Science knows what consciousness is in relation to the physical, mental state of body. NDE'rs and many in science are aware of the continuation of human consciousness after the physical and mental consciousness has expired. (Died) Where, how and why does it go? In past life regressions, it is experienced that our spirit consciousness moves on other bodies over many millennia. What does that say about our body and our spirit connection? I observe peoples in life and see they have a very specific purpose in life/body. I observe others and there seems very little purpose or direction. (I'm one of them.) I ask myself, 'What am I doing here in life? What's my purpose,' and I'm pretty sure I'm NOT alone on this. Why is that? Is my purpose in life, not to have a purpose? I see others that really do. Doctors, scientists mostly. Where does their consciousness go after they have passed? Are they/I going to be reincarnated… again? Seriously, what's next? Anyway, thanks Robert, Suzanne and IANDS!

  6. Is there a technique to get out of the body and then return to the body? It would be good for us to experience death and then come back to tell people what we saw on the reality show.
