Descriptions:

To understand true fulfillment, we must first understand that external factors cannot satisfy this need. Just as it is true that external factors can not bring us peace, happiness, or joy – it’s also true that external factors cannot saddle us with fear, anger or hurt. God created us as timeless entities, and while the external world fills us with the lies that we are separated from others and have to compete with them in order to fulfil our needs and requirements, this is not the truth. We are with God, we are by His side, and there is no separation between us, our fellow humans, or God.

When you wake up in the morning do you experience feelings of doubt, fear and insecurity – that you need to seek external wealth to feel fulfilled. Imagine instead that you wake up feeling a peaceful sense of certainty. Knowing your place and purpose in the world and feeling a deep sense of belonging. In order to experience this latter mindset, we must shift our perspective from an ego-centred view to a soul-centred view: instead of asking yourself, “What can I gain from the world today?” Ask yourself, “What can I give to the world today?”

  1. Not sure if the spiritualization of all human pursuits or the denigration of all aspects of embodiment is really and truly Christian. Are some called to excel in arts, sciences, technology, literature, philosophy, or governance? That is , really excel, develop, discover, and perfect? If so, then these things are not just carnal disappointments or falsifications of true faith, they are the ways true faith is expressed. And I don't think the material world is an "illusion", or the Son of God would not have taken on our nature or chosen to institute the sacraments. There seems to be something "off" about the perspective here.

  2. Only those who are financially secure enough to have their needs met believe this message. If you don't have a safe place to live, heat to stay warm and enough to eat, its not possible to even focus on the spiritual, and there is a big difference between lusting after luxury and having enough to feel safe. Only people who have enough could possibly believe that what money can buy is not important or essential.
