I don’t get how this many ppl thought that the rule of confidentiality goes above someone’s life. Confidentiality does not pertain to someone’s safety…if it could be life threatening (life or death) to anyone then it is typically an obligation for those to report it. That counts for anyone under the confidentiality rule (doctors, lawyers, counselors, etc.). They put others including themselves in harms way, he could’ve done it again.
The licensed therapist holding these groups should know the difference between protecting someones privacy versus protecting the community from a killer and when breaking confidentiality is ok.

Wow, those people held that information for 25 years? They should be charged for obstruction of justice for concealing information regarding her death. That's terribly sad for the family and rather despicable on those individuals who knew the truth.

I thought therapists were mandated reporters? Even if he currently isn’t hurting anyone, if someone confesses something like that it’s the LAW that they are supposed to report it. Whether they believe them or not. Like WHAT TF

IDK if i believe the head therapist would NOT disclose such to the police… They are mandated reporters here is this state, so, um, maybe this was in another state? and those poor people trying to get through their own shame, only to hear his garbage and not be able to say something… I would have violated that rule asap when that meeting was OVER… but hey that's just me.
