My grandmother was in Greystone in NJ also. This was back in the 40's, 50's and 60's. It was the absolute worst time to be in those facilities because of the torturous procedures. My mother would NEVER talk about her mother's psychiatric problems or the times she was institutionalized. I wish I knew more but everyone is long dead now.
Gray stone was closed down. It was not a good place.

My ex hubby great grandmother was sent away due to the baby blues they fried her brain etc my ex mother in law thought she passed in the 40s she was told the truth when she died in the 60s as a teenager my ex husband grandmother said she was not the same was a shell terriable what they did back in the day folks were used as hamsters and now when you go on anscerty we located where in NY she was so sad to know she passed away in there
