In an online survey, over 150 near-death experiencers (NDErs) described their experiences of disclosure of their NDEs to healthcare providers — medical, mental, social, and spiritual. Their responses indicated the degree to which they found the disclosures harmful — for example, being disbelieved, discounted, diagnosed as mentally ill, and/or demonized, or helpful — for example, believed, accepted, affirmed, and encouraged. Results reveal areas of need in the education and continuing education of healthcare providers to respond therapeutically to NDE disclosure.

I had an NDE type thing happen to me when having a pacemaker/defibrillator put in my chest, and the anaesthesiologist had to give me 6 times the amount of anaesthesia I was supposed to get to keep me under although the doctors putting in that pacemaker could here me screaming for Jesus to help me I think I had a distressing NDE type thing happen to me where they were trying to hold me down but could barely hold me as I thought demons were trying to pull me down to hell and Jesus came put out his hand and touched mine and I came to, I then told the male nurse standing next to me that I died, he said no you didn't your heart never stopped but I was convinced that I died then I thought well maybe I didn't but I went somewhere different than this existence.
