Very touching, wonderful story which means a lot to me, because of the message is are so clear, beautiful and yet simple to understand – I heard it twice – it is full with wisdom! Yes – I believe God knows what is inside our heart and it makes indeed a difference when we have done something wrong to others and are sorry and apologize – or not. The fact that "God" was actually called "God" seems odd, being a generic word. Also odd that the creature didn't disavow the Bible but sort of recommended it, considering it involves him fully condoning slavery and even using female slaves as surrogate mothers (Abe and Hagar), it also condones beating them with a rod "because they're your property" (Exodus 21: 20-21). In Deut 21: 18 he suggests having a rebellious son stoned to death by the town elders, which I suppose is one way of solving the problem, just not a moral way. I could go on all day but the point is that if the God of the Bible was accurately described, he's actually a monster and the average human is has much higher morality.
